Can't say I blame them

I just read this article about gay athletes in the Olympics.  Men's gymnasts and divers?  Women shotputters, basketball players, and weight lifters? And they only find 10 homos?  Yeah right!

But at the same time, I never bought in to the pressure to "out" oneself to absolutely everyone.  There are certainly realms of one's life where sexual preference has no bearing whatsoever.  When famous people come out, the pink triangle crowd idolizes them, but the rest of the world never sees them the same again.

I can't say that in their position I would do any differently.  I may not lie about it, but I'm not about to go around in a rainbow skinsuit either.

I guess it was a slow news day for Outsports. How is the count of gays at the Olympics newsworthy? I don't get it. I've read that marketing an Olympic athlete is pretty difficult no matter what, I don't think it has anything to do with sexual preference. I can understand it being no one's business - so why the pressure for any athlete to come out? Why it is even an issue?

I want to comment on your last post, but I won't because I'm not allowed to.
You'd probably look very cute in a rainbow skinsuit. Do they sell those?
Did they happen to ask any of those athletes if they are bi?

the usa mens gymnastics team looks more like a meathead frat about to run the train on some bitches after doing keg stands rather than a bunch of homos.

I have to agree with Angry on the Men's gymnastics team, except for the dude that could score high on pommell horse, he could go either way.

Having been on a D-I athletics team with two openly gay teamates, I really don't think it's anyone's business if an athlete comes out or not, after all it's not like I run around screaming I'm Bob Almighty Straight Triathlete, although my girl watching gives that away....it comes down to the fact that at the end of the day one's sexuality has nothing to do with the kind of athlete they are.

On a side note unless Life Savers is sponsoring you for the time trial I don't think a rainbow skinsuit is a good idea. Yellow and Purple maybe pure red definitely....but I don't think rainbow is your color.
