I just got a call from my "Cycle Buddy", a chick who I've never met in a city where I've never lived. Kari is just one of the services provided by the AIDS LifeCycle. My cycle buddy a bottomless resource for training and fund raising advice. I've never spoken to her before. I didn't even pick up the phone this time.
Kari said I'm doing AWESOME! (Kari likes dramatic adjectives and superlatives). If I raise $1,000 by Friday, then I get a ALC WINDBREAKER! (Kari's emphasis, not mine). Last year my friend Lorraine got a wind breaker, and she said it was really nice (I never got to see it since they lost her luggage when she came out to visit in Barcelona). Right now I have a total of $920. In other words, I'm $80 away from a wind breaker.
So here's the promotion: the person who puts me over the $1,000 mark by Friday will win said windbreaker. That's right. You will not only get the satisfaction of helping a GREAT cause, but you will also receive a windbreaker of a value roughly equivalent to your donation. Also, if you visit my fund raising page you can read a blog never published on this page OR the old No Wetsuit Girl home. To donate, click here!
For those of you who don't know, the AIDS LifeCycle is a 7-day 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. All proceeds from the event go to the San Francisco AIDS foundation. To find out more you can read the Claire-colored description here, or visit the SFAF's home page here.
(Athletes who are planning to do IM NZ next month are excluded from this competition, because I know you need that money now more than I do).
