Oops... I did it again!

(This post will contain no Britney Spears references, although one of these days I'll come out as a fan. Just not yet. I'm not ready.)

I accidentally signed up for a half marathon this weekend. I didn't mean to, I was just looking for an excuse to get out of town for a little while. You know, go for a drive, have a change of scenery... But no one in other cities would have me on 36 hours' notice and the race pickin's were pretty slim. And then I just happened to come across this half marathon in Hampton Beach, NH. It seemed like fun. I mean, 13 miles is 13 miles right? So my finger slipped (about 5 dozen times, oops!) and I accidentally filled out all the registration info. Oops.

Maybe I should have thought this one through. First of all, I'm not totally better yet. I haven't run more than 3.8 miles in like 3 weeks. IM training starts on Monday, so I was supposed to be taking it easy this weekend, making sure I was starting fresh... I'm supposed to have race-free weekends every once in awhile so I don't get burnt out... I really shouldn't be spending $50 on ANYTHING with my contract about to expire at work...

And that was all BEFORE I looked at the weather report. And I quote:
"Becoming windy with snow showers early, and a
steadier snow developing later on. High around 35F.
W winds at 10 to 15 mph, increasing to 20 to
30 mph. Chance of snow 80%."

What the hell was I thinking? Clearly, I wasn't thinking at all.

(P.S. Warrior Woman, you're up for t-shirts this weekend. Do you want Warrior Woman or your real name?)

How about this? We're both running halfs on the same morning. Mine's early, so as soon as I cross the finish line and stop cursing the idiot who just sprinted past me so he could move up two slots out of 5000... I'll send good vibes your way. Good luck.

And me. I have no problem dropping The Britney into a blog post or two. Girl's a mess, and I feel better living in a world where someone is so fucked up that no matter how bad things get, I'm not THAT bad off.

Speaking of, thanks for the 'Oops, I Did It Again' reference, we all know it was there, you're not fooling anyone. Have fun in The Britney Closet! That sounds like a horror movie, doesn't it?

Ooh is it my turn?

I'm probably too late to influence the naming decisions as I reckon you could already be out there running. Anyway, I would have said I don't mind, warriorwoman can be hard to fit across a t-shirt although you do look to have bought extraordinarily large tees!

Good luck with that run, 80% chance of snow sounds fun.

You are definitely a race addict! I know the feeling...
I didn't catch the Britney reference at first... ha!
We want to hear how it went! Are you still alive? Did you cough up a lung?
What IM are you doing?? I want to hear about that!

Well, I survived my race, despite the wind gusts that made me feel like I was frozen mid-air. No PR today, that's for sure. I think I'm getting too old for this crap!

I hope your race went well, though. 11AM is late to start a half marathon, but considering you needed to travel to get there, it's not such a bad thing...
