My morning

Leave the house 5 minutes early to be able to buy Robitussin on the way to the train. Walk so fast that I even manage to keep the long-legged power walking couple behind me. Walking so fast sets me to coughing. Breathing sets me to coughing lately...

8:10 am: Cough cough. I walk into CVS. Cough COUGH cough. I walk to the cold and sinus aisle. COUGH cough COUGH COUGH cough. Cough. Find the daytime Robitussin head and chest congestion. COUGH cough. Cough. Walk to the checkout.

COUGH cough cough. I give a dirty look to the two checkers who are having some kind of whispered conversation with gossipy looks on their face and are NOT paying attention to me. I don’t have to cough, for now, so I jiggle the box of Robitussin to sound agitated. COUGH cough cough. Cough.
The little old man checker takes his sweet time ringing me up. Then he stops. He looks at me intently. He pauses to look closer. I cough. “Are you over 18?” He asks.
“Yes I’m over 18” I say. Cough cough. “I’m 24.” Cough.
“Can I see your driver’s license?”

Are you serious?! Is there usually a rash of Robo-tripping teens making a run on CVS at 8:15 on Thursday mornings? What is this world coming to?

2 things:

1. CVS in downtown hartford is notoriously SLOW in dealing with customers. NO sense of urgency at all. Very irritating. Damn ghetto children.

2. I too got carded for buying Sudafed. I signed the waiver or whatever, but little do they know of my meth lab in the basement. HAHAHA!

You got carded buying cough syrup? I've been carded at a bar before when I asked for water. That was weird. I hope you feel better soon.

I caught myself wanting to cough out loud with you.
I really hope you're getting better. fast.
maybe just try some soup. you won't get carded for that.

That is too funny, you cough syrup junkie! Next thing you will be chugging mouth wash!
Hope your cough goes away!

I had no idea they carded people for cough syrup! Live it up, though, Speedy. Someday you'll kiss people when they card you... And this is coming from someone who looked like she was 12 until age 30.
I'll see you guys at 9:15 at the entrance to the cafe. Afterward I'm getting lunch with two old high school friends (remember this race is in my hometown...) Still, it will be fun to meet you all, even though I'm so new to your blogging circle!
Hope you feel better before the race. Be careful!
